Who we are

HeatPumpLab(“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at heatpumplab.com. We are an independent publisher of heat pump cost calculators and educational content for US homeowners.

What we collect

• Information you give us directly — when you fill out the contact form, you provide your name, email address, message subject, and message body. We only use this to respond to your inquiry.
• Calculator inputs — the values you type into our calculators are processed in your browser. We do not store individual submissions linked to your identity.
• Standard server and analytics data — like most websites, our hosting provider logs IP address, user agent, referrer, and pages visited.

Cookies and advertising

We use a small cookie (or equivalent local storage entry) to remember whether you have dismissed our cookie notice. If and when we enable Google AdSense or another advertising network, those services may set cookies in your browser to personalize ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — which calculators are used most, how long people spend reading our articles, and where our traffic comes from. Google Analytics collects anonymized IP addresses, browser type and version, device type, pages visited, referring site, and time spent on each page. We do not pass any personally identifying information to Google.

Analytics only runs after you accept our cookie banner. Until then, no tracking calls are made. If you decline (or simply never dismiss the banner) Analytics never loads. Data processed by Google Analytics is handled under Google's privacy policy. To opt out after previously accepting, clear your browser's site data for heatpumplab.com — the next visit will show the cookie banner again.

We do not sell your personal information

We do not sell personal information as that term is defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information we hold about you, and the right to object to processing or withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@heatpumplab.com with the subject “Data request” and we will respond within 30 days.

Data deletion requests

Send a deletion request to hello@heatpumplab.com. We will delete any contact-form correspondence we hold from you, unless we are required to retain it to resolve a dispute or comply with law.

Children's privacy

HeatPumpLab is intended for adults researching heat pump systems for their homes. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our site evolves. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page and reflected in the “Last updated” date.
