Editorial Standards
These are the rules we hold ourselves to so you can trust the numbers on this site.
Independence
We don't accept payment for favorable estimates or favorable content. No contractor, manufacturer, or service company can pay to change a calculator's inputs, outputs, or supporting article. Display ads and any affiliate revenue are kept strictly separate from editorial decisions.
Accuracy
Every calculator and supporting article is reviewed by the HeatPumpLab editorial team before publication and re-reviewed at least once per quarter against the most recent AHRI, BLS, EIA, DOE, and manufacturer data. When market conditions shift mid-quarter, we update sooner.
Transparency
Where a page contains an affiliate link or a sponsored placement, it is clearly labeled inline. We never disguise commercial relationships as editorial recommendations. Our full methodology is published on a dedicated page so anyone can audit how a number was produced.
Corrections
If we publish something wrong, we fix verified errors within 7 days of receiving a report. Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected page along with the date the change was made.
AI assistance
We use AI tools to help draft content and stress-test calculator logic. Every page is then reviewed and edited by a human before publication, and every numerical claim is verified against the data sources listed in our methodology. AI does not approve content for publication.
Disclosure
The estimates produced by our calculators are educational. They are not a substitute for a written quote from a licensed HVAC contractor, and they do not constitute professional engineering, financial, legal, or tax advice.
